The Club was sponsored by the Beausejour Lions Club and received its Charter on March 23, 1963.  It was incorporated in August 1964.  The first meeting was held on February 7, 1963, in the Lac du Bonnet Memorial Hall; subsequent meetings over the years have been held at varied locations including members' homes, hotels, the Catholic Church, Council Chambers, and currently in the new Community Centre.

Dues were initially set at $15.00 compared to $40.00 per year today.  The existing lynx logo for the Club pins and vests was designed in 1985.

The first Lions-sponsored July 1st festivities were held in 1963, continuing to this day.  The fireworks display was introduced in 1965.

Ice-fishing derbies have been part of the Club's winter activities since 1967.  For the past 7 years, the Club has co-ordinated one of the largest derbies in Manitoba with 100 prizes; the top prize being $20,000.

The annual Senior Citizens Dinner began in 1971 with 157 guests compared to over 350 today.  As well, dinners are delivered to those seniors who are not able to attend.

The first Walk-a-dog-athon for Canine Vision Canada, Canadian Leader Dog Training program was held in October, 1986 and is currently being held each year.

The Club has also sponsored a foster child since 1966.  Specifically for the youth, the Club has financially assisted with Guides, Brownies and minor hockey.

The latest initiative of the Club is the annual New Year's Eve Gala, which was started in 2000 as a fund-raiser for the Community Centre.

Over the years, the Lac du Bonnet Lions Club has played an active part in the development of the community.  Starting in 1967 with a pledge of $2000, the Club has donated over $35,000 to the Arena, which in 1969, had an estimated start-up cost of $80,000.  The Curling Club and Personal Care Home have also received sizable donations from the Club.  The new Community Centre received substantial support from the Club with an initial $50,000 and another $50,000 pledged over 5 years starting in 2000.

THANK YOU TO ALL OF OUR SUPPORTERS BOTH PAST AND PRESENT
